NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Graphics Card Specifications – Full Fat GA102 GPU & 24 GB GDDR6X Memory
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics card is powered by the GA102 GPU. The GA102 is one of several Ampere GPUs that will be available in the gaming market. The GA102 GPU is NVIDIA’s fastest gaming GPU. The GPU is built on Samsung’s 8nm custom process node, which was designed specifically for NVIDIA, and has a total of 28 billion transistors. It measures 628mm2, making it the second-largest gaming GPU ever produced, trailing only the Turing TU102 GPU.
The new shader core on the NVIDIA Ampere architecture is 2.7x faster, the new RT cores are 1.7x faster,
and the new Tensor cores are up to 2.7x faster than the previous generation Turing GPUs.
The 2nd Generation RT core provides dedicated hardware-accelerated ray-tracing performance
and twice the ray/triangle intersection with concurrent RT graphics and computes operations.
NVIDIA has enabled 84 SM units on the GeForce RTX 3090, resulting in a total of 10,752 CUDA cores (vs 82 SM / 10496 cores on the RTX 3090 Non-Ti).
In addition to CUDA cores, NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3090 Ti includes next-generation RT (Ray-Tracing) cores,
Tensor Cores, and brand new SM or streaming multi-processor units. The GPU has a base clock speed of 1560 MHz and a boost clock speed of 1860 MHz. The card has a TDP of 450W.
In terms of memory, the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti has 240 GB of next-generation GDDR6X memory. The RTX 3090 Ti can achieve GDDR6X memory speeds of 21 Gbps thanks to Micron’s latest and greatest graphics memory dies. This, combined with a 384-bit bus interface, yields a total bandwidth of 1008 Gbps.
GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Graphics Card Cooling & Design- Next-Gen NVTTM Founders Edition
NVIDIA has created one of their best and most powerful Founders
Edition cooling designs for the GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards to date
and explained that higher performance necessitates a new type of cooling solution and as such,
it has prepared a unique cooling solution for its next-generation cards that will keep GPUs running cool
while remaining quiet by utilizing several new and existing technologies.
The Founders Edition cooling system employs a full aluminum alloy heatsink with a hybrid vapor chamber and dual-sided axial-tech-based fans. The cooler heatsink has a nano-carbon coating and should do an excellent job of keeping temperatures under control.
The design is interesting in that it not only goes all out with a fin and heat pipe design. This is the first design of its kind since the Founders Edition GeForce GTX 780, with a much larger heatsink area.
It also has a unique fan placement, with one on the front and one on the bottom. This push-pull fan configuration, as it is known, is said to push heat out of exhaust vents much more effectively. There will be some air blown out of the case from the back of the card itself,
but this should not be a major issue because modern CPU Air or Liquid coolers do an excellent job of venting air from within the case.
Acoustically, the new Founders Edition design is quieter than traditional dual axial coolers
while still providing nearly twice the cooling performance of previous-generation solutions.
The aforementioned NVLink and power design changes help here, creating more space for airflow
through the largest fin stack seen to date, and the larger bracket vents improve airflow in conjunction with individually shaped shroud fins.
Every aspect of the Founders Edition cards is designed to maximize airflow, minimize temperatures, and enable the highest levels of performance with the least amount of noise.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Graphics Card PCB & 12-Pin Power Input
The PCB design on the Founders Edition GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards is one of the most noticeable changes. The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti comes with a one-of-a-kind
and compact PCB package that is unlike anything we’ve seen in the consumer space before. However, just because the cards are small doesn’t mean they don’t pack a punch. NVIDIA’s compact PCBs pack a punch.
The PCB has over 18 power chokes, making it a more premium design than the flagship non-reference RTX 20 series cards.
The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is powered by an insane 22-phase design that is designed to overclock
with unprecedented GPU overclock headroom that most users can leverage to gain even faster performance.
In addition, the GeForce RTX 30 series Founders Edition cards will have 12-pin Micro-Fit 3.0 power connectors.
These connectors do not require a power supply upgrade
because the cards will ship with bundled 2x 8-pin to 1x 12-pin connectors,
allowing you to run your latest graphics card without any compatibility issues.
The placement of the 12-pin connector on the PCB is also noteworthy. It positioned vertically, and the PCB design explains why NVIDIA
chose a single 12-pin plug over the standard dual 8-pin design. Because there limited space on the PCB to do things, a smaller and more compact power input required.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Graphics Card Price & Availability – Both Custom & Reference Designs Available at Launch
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti was announced today and will available to consumers on January 27, 2022.
At launch, the card will be available in both reference and custom flavors,
but given the current market situation, expect retail prices to range between $2500-$3000.
NVIDIA hasn’t released any performance numbers yet,
but based on what has shown,
the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is faster than the RTX 3090 Non-Ti and outperforms the RX 6900 XT.
